Fuel line coupling nuts sediment bowl to carb inlet

I have a slight fuel leak at the fuel line coupling nut at the sediment bowl outlet on my '45 Farmall A. What type of seal does this coupling nut use? Is there a compression ferrule on the end of the fuel line? My parts book lists coupling nuts P/N 29899D on each end of the fuel line. Are these nuts a slip fit over the fuel line and how do they seal to the fuel line and in the bowl and carb bodies? Do they require any dope on the external threads before installing? Thanks for any information.

That part number is a nut with ferrele attatched to it. You slip it on the pipe, push pipe into fitting as far as it will go and tighten. This seals the ferrele on the pipe and it comes off the nut. Of course, you may need to cut a little off line to get a good spot for it to seal on. No sealer. Part number has been changed of course but same part. Hard to find at a general parts outlet but CASEIH carries them. They are illustrated in OEM on line parts catalog also.

The A and B use the same line. I make them using steel brake line. I do use a ferrule on each end as the nuts on the brake line are the correct size. I do use the paste teflon for a sealer and it does not leak when done. It does take time to bend the tube so it fits.

Thanks for all the replies. I have not taken the fittings out of the sediment bowl or carb yet but now I know that the coupling nut uses a ferrule to seal to a clean and straight fuel line. I'll try to locate some new coupling nuts at a Case dealer.

Bring plenty of cash! When I made my gas line for the SMTA I would have been better off buying a new one from OEM that was already bent.

I've got the fuel line fitting nuts. $5 for a pair.

Not at Otter's in Burlington. IIRC they were $13 each.

2 nuts, plus shipping right to your door would be about $15.
