Farmall A hubs

Hello. Just got me a 1945 Farmall A an need to know what are the correct hubs for it. Ih has what looks like aftermarket cast hubs. On the Right hand side also has original IHC wheel weight. Were some just the sheetmetal kind? THANKS

It was very common for As to be shipped with a stamped steel wheel on the left and a cast iron wheel on the right.

Idea was, where the center of gravity on the A is offset to the left, the extra weight of the cast wheel (on the outer end with a lot of leverage) and the operator (more inboard, with less leverage) on the right made it more stable on dicey ground.

The Farmall A had 2 different wheel hubs. The one on the left was a thinner type , and the one on the right was real thick. The manual will tell you never mix up these hubs, as they are that way to counter-balance the off set tractor.

Standard was cast center on the drivers side and steel on the left. But you also could get cast on both sides then they would put an add-on wt to counter balance. The cast centers wiegh around 150lbs same as the cast add-ons so be careful when removing. In this day and age after 60 pluss yrs its hard to tell where the tractor has been used for and original area so anything goes.
