english paper help

for school i hve to do an englsh paper on just about anything. i was thinking on engines in some way but not sure. needs tobe 7 paragraphs, 1 intro, 5 body, and a conclusion. need to be able to find good info. got any good ideas? thanks.

Easiest and one with the most readily available references would be the history of the internal combustion engine.

explain that

a-intake=suck
b-combustion=squeeze
c-explosion=bang
d-exhaust=blow

its a great intro to use the latter of each analogy to grab attention.

(quoted from post at 06:44:12 05/06/11) "copy & paste"? Yeah, with today's technology I could write a real nice paper in a couple hours.

 Yeah, chances are your English teacher hasn't read anything on engines, so he/she won't know it's copied. My luck was always that even though I changed a word or phrase here or there, the teacher had read whatever I had copied.

If it's just a paper find most any book on 'engines' and write it. If sources and acknowledgement are required it gets a bit tougher. Instructors sometimes check you work.
Use your spell and grammar checker because that's the point of writing the paper.

And be sure you proof read your work BEFORE you turn it in because sometimes the #&-- grammar checker isn't too smart either. The word can be spelled correctly but the use is not.

If you want to learn something and be true to yourself, "Do not copy and paste." I hope you do a better job at writing your paper than you did in your post. Good writing comes from practise. Seems to me that "texting" has lead us away from good writing.

Do well on your paper and learn something about engines as well.

As a University professor, I recommend not cutting or pasting anything. Look up the first internal combustion engines

If you write a paragraph on each of those, and add one on the generation and timing of the spark, then you'll have the five required paragraphs for the body of your paper.

If I had that assignment, I would write a performance report on your teacher. Now that is being creative and it will certainly get his or her's attention.

I strongly suggest that you get someone to proofread your work. Write the essay over several days so that your brain will have time to rest and reconsider what you have written. Try to make it humorous. Might want to put a "kicker" on the end using the words "This is your life".

Creatiivity is one of the most admired human traits and is what your teacher is looking for. There is not much room for that when writing about engines that are essentially 200 year old technology. You'd have to be an exceptional writer to make that interesting and worth reading.

Why not write your paper on your work on your tractor ! It would be real !
You have learned an amazing amount in a short time .
That would make a great topic for you !!!
My 2 cents worth

It appears that the Shift Key on your computer is not working. You have not capitalized any of your sentences in your original post. Two words have letters missing. There should be two spaces between sentences. And some of your sentences are not sentences. English as in language, subject, or teacher is always capitalized.

So, now you see why some of us are saying you must proofread your work. It would be preferable to have someone else read it over when done. They'll find errors that you won't.

As far as the paper goes, a tractor restoration is a good subject. Your English teacher is not. As a former teacher, I would not be too happy with that topic, which I would assume was a "smart guy" as a joke!

Sit down with some blank paper and write a heading on each sheet, Introduction, Body 1, Body 2, etc, conclusion. Now start putting some ideas on each one. Just you random thoughts and just stick them where you think they might go. After that, go to bed. Next day, look them over. Make the changes that will most likely leap out at you from the pages. Go to bed again.

Next day, rewrite the pages in paragraph form using the first pages for reference. Go to bed again.

Next night, read it over, make final corrections, put it in order, and have someone else read it. Now, yeah, go to bed again.

If there are no changes, turn it in for an "A". And if you are a typical teenager, this report was due several days ago and you don't have time to do all that I said. But you can do it in your mind as you create it. Turn this one in for a B-. And get some sleep for goodness sakes!! Don't be spending all your time on this forum!! LOL!!
