1256 DT407 Oil Pressure

How much oil pressure would you expect this engine to have. When warmed up and working it has about 30 PSI. When idling warmed up the gage drops down to just a few pounds (just above O). Do I have a problem or is this acceptable?

The normal oil pressure would be around 45 psi warm, full speed and at least 10 psi at low idle. I would make sure oil is good first. Should have 30 wt or 15W 40 and make sure it is not contaminated with diesel fuel thinning it out. Far as where to look, well, history. How long has it been this way. Bearings, pump, relief valve, safety valve etc. If you suspect just recent problem I would take one oil filter off and take a good look in it for metal filings.
