Mccormick Deering 22-36

I was going over some archives and ran across some info about the date stamped under the tractor when they cast it. Mine was stamped 11-20-28 so I assume it is a 1929 model, the first year of the 22-36. I'm glad the info was here and I found more about my tractor since my tag is missing

Iam not to sure if that is the actual manf. date. On my 10-20 it is stamped 10-1-27 and I always assumed it was a 1927 and than when I checked the SN under the fuel tank it shows it is a 1930. Just my 2 cents worth. Others would know more about it.

that is the date that part was cast. Your tractor will have parts with different dates but they will usually be within a month or two of each other. You can only tell the actual build date of the tractor by the serial number. Without that its a guess based on casting dates of the various parts.

(quoted from post at 13:40:26 04/18/11) I wondered if they made a huge amount at one time and used as needed over the years

They probably set up for casting such and such a part and did enough for 2-3 months. Then they probably switched over to such and such and ran that batch of parts. Not like the companies now days with just in time mfg.

Jim, check your engine block, it should have a spot towards the front below the head that is raised and ground flat with a serial number stamped in it. I forget which side right now.
