holes in floor pan of farmall cub?

What are the holes in the floor pan of a cub 1" about 3-4 inches apart used for. Show and tell seem to be the best answer so far. Thanks guys.

If your using a runner planter with a press wheel, you can see how well it is covering the seeds thru the holes. Sounds crazy, and I didn't believe it till I saw it myself.
