Leaking rear end

Now, before you make any comments about the title of this email, let me say it is about my TRACTOR, not anything or anyone else!!

I have a 39 A and it's leaking from the rear end. You may recall I drained the oil and put in 85-140 and Lucas. It's still dripping. I am thinking that the seals may have been cracked, split, something by an excess of oil put in by someone else (I will not name the culprit) although he is closely related to my wife and me.

Now, if I have to replace seals in the rear, how many and what should I replace and is this a big job? I don't have any help and will most likely do it myself.

I'd appreciate any comments. (About the job)

Are you talking A Farmall if so there is a seal for each diff shaft and thats whats leaking on yours. There is also seals on the outer diff shaft mite a well replace them when you do the inner ones.

I don't think too much oil will ruin a seal. Not enough on the other hand will cause it to run dry. This will mess up the shaft or the seal almost 100% of the time.

Sorry...typo

Also, go to the CNH parts to look at a parts breakdown for the project. This will give you p/ns for all your parts so you can give them to the dealer or to an aftermarket seal/bearing supplier.

It's to Damm Full. Pull the check plug on the right side of trans case (right side, beside the PTO). Should only weep out when full.
