SC Front Grill Emblem

This has bothered me since I bought my SC. It's a 51 with the long "Farmall" emblem on the front grill versuses the IH. It's hard to believe the emblem was ever changed because the tractor was bought new in 51 by the Colorado Department of Corrections and spent it's entire life on a prison farm. Wish it had a hour meter, can't have many hours, draw bar hole is perfect, cork stoppers in all frame holes. What's the correct emblem?

That tractor should have the rectangular IH emblem. Is there a screw hole in the center behind your current emblem?

Delta, I'm here in Monument. The tractor has the CDC inventory tag attached to the serial number plate. There still is a vegetable, dairy, flower green house, vineyard, at the prison in Cannon City. They're using Kubota's and some small Deere's now. My stepson is a guest down there for the past 5 years.

As far as a hole in the center of grill for the IH emblem, it's not there.

The grill was probably replaced and the dealer used the emblem they had on hand.

If you are really curious about the history, you might want to check the radiator for date markings. If it happens to be a 1951 radiator, it won't tell you anything. But if it happens to be a different date . . .

Is it as '51 C, or a '51 SuperC? 5-digit serial number would make it a C, 6-digit a Super.

Straight pedals would indicate a C, curved pedals a Super.

I ask because the swapping out grilles idea doesn't work. The SuperC had a taller radiator than the C, and it's grille was unique - taller than the C and altogether different from the larger ones on the H and M.

I'd suspect a C or someone screwing a wing emblem on where there was originally a screw hole for the IH man-on-tractor logo. Is there a hole in the center of the grille under your Farmall emblem? That would be a clue in that direction.

I have a 50 C and it has the small IH emblem. To the best of my knowledge all C and SC had that emblem, unless some very early C's had the long Farmall emblem.

Thanks Guy's. I did suspect that it should have the IH emblem. Don't know if I'll change it or not. Looks pretty nice as is. The correct police will not approve though.

I doubt if I would change it either. The correct police will just have to go pick on someone else.

It might just be my imagination, or a foggy memory, but I'm not so sure I haven't seen a few other Farmall C's with the "Farmall" grill emblem.

The Farmall emblem is a custom addition sometime after the original sale.

Every tractor was "bought new" by someone, somewhere. Doesn't mean it still has original paint or has original emblems, or original anything.
