IH 135 Engine kit

Working on a 135 engine for a 91 combine and looking at engine kits. What is a stepped head piston?

Stepped head pistons increase the compression by putting a modest dome on the top of the piston. this does not interfere with the valves or head, it does increase the power, and with today's fuel it will be fine. Jim

Thanks Jim,

I wondered if that is what it was but wasn't for sure. The pistons currently in the engine are flat on top.

I just completly rebuilt the motor in my little farmall A and i put step head pistons in it What a differance, alot snapper and alittle bit more power. My neighbor had a 91 that i tryed for years to buy but no they sent it to the scrapper and got much less than i offered.
