SC WATER PUMP QUESTION PART 2

powerline

HEY GUYS...A few weeks ago, I had a question if I had the right water pump. (Thanks for the comments & direction.) As I found out from the dealer that I have the correct water pump & shaft. NOW...my next question? Why aren't my pulley's lining up? The water pump pulley wasn't pressed on the shaft from the factory all the way. (I have corrected this.) Now, I have found that neither pulley on the fan shaft will line up with my crankshaft pulley. Could it be I have the wrong thermostat housing on this SC???? It looks correct, but if it had 1/2" more angle forward toward the radiator on the fan adjustment everything would line up. That being said, is there a difference in a C and SC thermostat housing? (Also, this is the correct fan for the SC.) Any help would be appreciated...thanks for the info. in advance!!!

As far as I know the Super C did not come without a water pump and according to my parts info, only one water outlet fitting (which supports the fan shaft) is listed. That is part number 257353 R2. For the C, the water pump was optional and most did not have it. With the water pump, the outlet fitting and fan support is the same as the SC. Without the water pump, the outlet fitting part number is 251177 R1. I don't think the C without the water pump had provision in the water outlet for a thermostat. So there are two possibilities for the water outlet fitting, however I'm betting there is no difference in the position of the fan. So I'm guessing you have some other issue on the belt alignment.

The C did not come with a water pump. As some of us tried to say previously, adding a water pump to a C is a major job. Nothing will line up. You are going to find that there are other differences including the fan which will not clear the water pump. The SC had a different fan that was less aggressive and was cut out to pass over the water pump. The two will not interchange. The C was not built for a water pump.
