Hi, I have a 2606 with hand throttle on the dash with stripped threads on the mount just above the spline. The top nut would only tighten down so far and then won't tighten anymore. With the thick rubber piece under the throttle, I could only get about half throttle and still hold ever since I've owned it. Anymore and it would slip would slip back to idle.
When I had the dash out for the wiring work, I can't get it to tighten up to even get it to hold at half throttle. I'm tired of holding it all the time.
I've had the mount out and tried a die but my tap and die set doesn't have a tapered end on it so I can't even get it started which is odd since I can start the nut. It's a fine thread.
I'm going to try again but thought I'd ask you guys. I've thought of using thinner newer rubber, grinding the old threads off and recut a smaller thread, or just welding on some all thread and using extra washers. I'm going to try to use the die again and may buy a new die if I need to. I may move the triangular mounting plate underneath the dash instead of on top to see if it gets a better bite. There isn't room to put a washer under the nut as it barely threads on as it is.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
