966 brakes losing prime and pushing pedal back in your face?

My 966 brakes seem a little off to me. I guess this is normal but when the tractor is not running you can push the pedals all the way down and then when you start it it will push the pedals back up pretty quick. Also when it is running the brakes don't instantly respond. It's like if you barely push the pedal down, about 1-2 seconds later it will build pressure and you can feel it push the pedal back up and then it will stop you. It feels like they won't hold you back at first so most people would push the pedal down real hard and then in 1-2 seconds it will "build pressure" and they will lock up. It's real touchy. Does this sound normal or is there a problem? Thanks.

had simular problem a couple years ago, o rings are worn and the master needs to be rebuilt. no big deal IH has a kit for it.

You need to bleed the air out of the brakes. There is a bleed screw on the top of each brake piston housing. With the engine running, hold the pedal down for the side you are bleeding and open the screw. Let it bleed out until there are no more bubbles coming out. Repeat the procedure for the other side.

My '7' does the sare thing.Iwas told to check the disksfor wear,or the adjusters may be stuck. The tractor has over 10,000 hrs.

That's how the 756 we had acted as far back as I can remember. You pushed the pedal in, and when they came in pushed your foot back. Never really had any issue with using them, as they were consistent.
