656 engine into a 506 (gas)

I've got a friend that has a 506 international with a bad engine, He's got an engine out of a 656 just lying around... don't know how that happened. Anyhow, he called me asking if I thought if the engine would fit in the 506 but, I don't really have a clue.

So, the question is, will the 656 engine fit in a 506 easily without any modification?

Just wondering, I didn't find anything through the search tool, I thought for sure I saw a similar post but I can't find it..

u mean 560? no such thing as a 506... A 656 gas or diesel engine with both bolt right into a 560.

The biggest change you will have to make is to replace the front cover. The 560 front cover mounts on top of the frame rails. The 656 front cover is mounted with bolts through the sides of the rails.

Anyways, I passed on the information to my friend, and yes it is a 560. I had my numbers backwords.
