Talked to a buddy of mine last night at dinner and he mentioned rumors about CNH and Agco merging. He works for Deere out of Des Moines and is a reliable source of info. Anyone else heard about this?

I've also heard rumors that International Harvester is going to break away from Case and be a "stand alone" company again.

Until I see it happen, I won't believe any of those rumors.

Well if we are going to keep the rumor mill well lubricated, I heard it is some Chinese corporation that has been making the majority of the IH parts anyway that is going start production. Just one more indication that we are headed to be one of the largest third world nations on the planet. LarryT

I haven't heard that rumor, but I don't think it is likely.

I would think a merger like that would cause a great deal of anti-trust backlash from governments in both Europe and the United States.

There is some truth to that rumor in that Case-IH has partnered with Tisco to supply the "Gold-Value" line of aftermarket parts for the "heritage" tractors, but I think you will still have your choice of Case-IH branded parts or the lower priced gold value parts.

Somebody will hopefully correct me if I am wrong.

My understanding is that AGCO put an inquiry out a few years ago and Fiat indicated they were not interested in selling C-NH. I have not heard anything in the least in the recent couple years. I think things (rumors) get going when Fiat is looking to make a move just like when they acquired a portion of Chrysler a few years ago.
I would hate to see it happen from a dealer competition standpoint. Our nearest CaseIH chain outfit thinks they're too good for the smaller farmer anymore and they would be the most likely to prevail if such a merger happened. I think when we go through another 1980's style hard stretch the NH chain outfit will go away and the CaseIH chain will pick that up, too. Just an opinion on my part, nothing more at this time.

I forgot to mention that he was told that Fiat wanted out of the industry and was going to sell CNH. I should not have said merger, I believe that is a different type of arrangement. I didn't post this with the intent of spreading the rumor, I just wanted to know if anyone read anything about this in the Ag industry magazines or another reliable source.

Google CNH Agco merger and you will find lots of information. Seems there has been talk among CEOs of the 2 companys but most seem to think nothing will come from them.

Was looking through CNH/AGCO merger articles and the 12/9/10 Wisconsin AG Connection article has been moved to page 2 by Google for some reason.

In some talk there is rumer of some Johns deers being made in China before long CNH, IH, NH or JD will be all there is and John Deere will paint theres red to sell them also.

At the 09 chapter banquet our chapter president told us that Racine is in the process of removing "Case" from north American marketing. That's all I've heard. I doubt Fiat would let them go, a few years ago the ag division was the only part of the company to turn a profit.
