A Farmall in my Chevy?

(quoted from post at 10:46:11 12/23/10) I read that the other way around. Navistar is buying GM 8.1 engines to put in their motor home chassis.

Jim, I think you are right. I did some more "Googling" and found that it is/was built in Tonawonda, N.Y., the same as where GM engines have been built for at least 40 to 50 years.

If you want bigger size GM truck it will be built by Navistar. They had that arrangement set up before all the bankrupcy stuff. So I think they still do.

there was a big to do in the paper and online about the last "big block" chevy ever being built during the past year. I recall it was said the 8.1 was the one on the chopping block.

i think this was it.

not the best link that I posted about BB production ending. The article I remember reading in the past was much better written.
The fine print at the bottom makes it seem like there may be another plant: "...GM performance parts...and Dart..."
But that might be the traditional big blocks and not the 8100???

The author was likely obscuring all the facts to set the tone of a doomed economy last year.
