called my local napa looking for a thermostat for a 51 super c. he couldnt find one for a super c just a listing for a regular c. are these the same. thanks

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure that a straight C even had a thermostat, at least not the early ones. But if they did, I don't think they would be the same because a Super C upper water outlet, which is where the thermostat would go, is different than one for a straight C. They may even be a different diameter, I just don't recall for sure.
What I do remember is that the upper water outlets are not interchangeable between a C and a Super C. I tried it once and it didn't work. I'm talking about the piece that bolts to the head and connects to the upper radiator hose.

Not all C's were equipped with a water pump. The ones that were use the same outlet casting and thermostat as the Super C. So the answer to your question is yes.

His book is wrong as the C didnt have one. The SC has a taller radiator and different upper inlet to the block for the thermostat.

Water pump was an option on the C.

If you crack open the parts catalogs for both models, you will find the outlet elbow and the thermostat have the same part numbers for both tractors. The outlet is different if the C doesn't have a water pump.

Its apparent you have never had the two inlet parts side by side to see the difference. How will you get the hose to fit the thermostat bracket to the C radiator. I have both housings havent checked the part # but they are different.

Gene, back at you. From your first post, it is evident that you have never been around a C with a water pump. If you had, you would know that Mr Mayor was correct in stating that a C with a water pump uses the same outlet and thermostat as a Super C.

This comes back to the original question, whether the NAPA listing for a C thermostat would be correct for a Super C. Unless NAPA has introduced some error in their listings, it is correct.

All the Cs iv worked on were added and not factory so they didnt have the larger cast going to the block that takes the thermostat.
