Gas or Distillate

I purchased a 1945 A Culti-Vision that is equipped with a Marvel-Schebler carb. and a Distillate manifold. The tsnk is filled with gas and there is no aux. tank. I drove it about a mile from point of purchase to my shop and it started and ran OK. I don't know what I have or how to proceed with restoration. Would appreciate any suggestions.

You have a 65 year old tractor that has who knows what done to it over the years, and unless you are a real stickler for originality, just restore what you have. Distillate fuel has not been available for at least 40, maybe 50 years, and that Farmall A has been running on gasoline just fine ever since.
 
IF you can find a starting (gasoline) tank, and like it enough to pay for it, it would put it back into proximate originality. The manifold heat control lever would need to be free, and operating a diverter flap inside the manifold, and it would need shutters and crank mechanism for the radiator.
But it will be very happy on gasoline, which you can buy, and not like any concoction of Kero and diesel and gasoline that could be made to approximate distillate which you can't buy. It will be a nice tractor. Jim
 
I have the manifold heat control pot and and diverter flap but the pot is cracked and rusted out and the exhaust pipe and muffler will need to be replaced as well. Also have the radiator shutter and crank. It"s froze up but restorable. The auxiliary tank is available but I haven"t decided whether to add or not. Thanks to all for your help
