I broke one of the blades on the fan when the bearings went out on the fanshaft. I loosed the nut on the side of the fan, but that didnt seem to do any good as to loosening the bracket that holds the springs in place. I went to trying to punch out the center shaft but it wasnt giving. Thought id better check with u smarter people before I broke anything. Thanks,

I've had the best luck getting that pin out by loosening the retaining nut half-way & tapping on the nut 'till the pin starts to work out the other side. Take the nut off after that & tap the drive pin through. If it's rusted tight, hit it with your best penetrating oil, let it sit for a minute or two & then perform the process above. Keep your hand in front of the part that retains the springs. Every once & a while you find a loose one that will take off, fron the studs, with the springs closely behind. Not that I'd know, or anything. Then, I think, you pull the two studs & four bolts & you should have a free fan. I'm only running on memory, here, as I can't find the durned service manual. Dats what I get for cleaning!

Yup, I hear ya. I loaned my I & T manual to a friend who put in a rear main seal in my Cub and he forgot to give it back. I didnt realize that bolt on the side with the nut was a pin. Glad I got on here. Thanks.

I was refering to the 7/16ths nut on the pin which I removed. Everything seperated. Got one impeller missing on the shaft. Dont notice any looseness in the pulley bearings. What bearing do I need to replace, and what size or number is it??

There are only two bearings that I know of, one on either side of the fan hub. They are both ST225 or ST225B. The parts book I have indicates a second bearing number, 49436D (New Departure #3205XL). The IH bearing book lists another 7 different bearing numbers, all pertaining to that size. CaseIH should still be able to get these bearings. If they can't, 102614R91 is what the bearings cross to at the Parts Depot. There's also A31260. Both numbers return bearings they have in inventory. The number for the impeller is 9165DX. Fresh packing is 45925DA, if you need it.
