706d stalling

i have a 706d that starts well with ether and runs well while warming up.when i put the clutch in and put it in gear it dies as if it is out of fuel. it will start up again without having to prime the system and die again when put in gear. i have checked for water in fuel and replaced primary filter. i am out of ideas and the manuals do not cover this . thanks for any and all information

Is it a 282 or 310? Eiether one, take line off at pump from filter to see if you get a good flow of fuel, if not work back toward tank. If ok, on a 282, take off the top fuel return line fitting, whole fitting out of top of pump and see if check valve has bits of plastic in it indicating failure of govenor shock absorbing ring. You could try running it without fitting, just to check to see if that is the problem. The 310 doesn't have that problem.
