traction control

Is traction control more or less the same as Ford's draft control? I recently bought a 350 utility, finally got the manuals for it, and in looking today it looks like the tractor I bought has traction control. It's missing a few pieces but what's left looks like the traction control exploded drawing in the parts manual.

It took a few years but eventually all mfgs got honest and called it draft control. Allis Chalmers with their traction booster was one of the real hand nosed ones when it came to that. They are all doing the same thing, weather it is mechanical or hydraulic or electronically controlled hydraulics like newest tractors, they are sensing the pull of the implement and raise or lower hitch accordingly to maintain a constant draft or that is the plan anyway. The old IH sales literature used to proclaim that mechanical leverage was superior to using hydraulics because when you hit a tough spot you don't want the hydraulics kicking in when you need that extra power to get through it. Of course they had to give in eventually. The lower link sensing used on larger tractors works much better than the third arm sensor on the smaller ones.
