color and serial number of an F20

A friend of mine just bought an F20 serial number FA58206. He is wondering what year and month it is to see if it is a gray or red color from the factory. What is the correct paint code for whichever color it is also then. Thanks for your replies.

F20 serial number FA58206 was made in June of 1936, it would of been gray from the factory.

For future reference, there's a link on the left side of this page under "Research&Info" that lists the years of the serial numbers on most of the older IH tractors.

I knew it was a 1936 model but I wasn't sure if it would be before the color change in November or not. Thanks Kirk for the information.

I prefer Van Sickle's "McCormick Gray." Call the 1-800 number on the can and they can ship you a gallon or a gallon's worth in rattle cans.
