I have a m farmall that is not cranking good and i need some help. I have put new plugs, wires, points, fuel strainer and rebuilt the carb.It takes forever to start as it acts like it is not getting enough gas. I have had three other tractor guys take a look to make sure everything i did was correct. Any ideas?

Look at the cables coming from the battery. Odds are they are the 2 gauge car cables from Walmart. You need 0 or 00 LARGE cables. Build them from welding cable supply house.

Thin cables can drop starting speed and cause the problem. 00gauge is a reality with this tractor.
If it starts instantly when pulled or if self started going down a small hill, I believe cables would do it. Jim

What size battery? 6 volt or 12 volt?

If still 6 volt, did you get a battery big enough to FILL UP the battery box? The stock 6 volt size is a group 3. Hard to find and pricey but it takes it to spin these over and have enough left for the ignition if you have a battery ignition. Don't ask how I know this.

If 12 volt a group 24 will do it.

Possible intake manifold gasket leak? Gasket between carb & intake?? Choke not closing fully? Are the valves gapped correctly?

Hold your hand over the throat of the carburetor while a helper trys to start the engine. You need good manifold vacuum to pull that atomized
fuel into the engine. You may have a manifold leak, sleeves may be worn or valves not seating if there's not much suction on your hand. You actually can choke your engine this way and the engine should start. We used this method years ago when cars and trucks had mechanical fuel pumps. You could get the engine to start, but once you removed your hand the engine would die. Hal
