IH 240: Gasket between trans/gearbox and cover

Finally putting things back together on my 240U after changing rear axle seals. What have you all used for the (cast) trans cover gasketing? IH no longer stocks a gasket, and I don't know if I can buy gasket material sheet that large. I've always stayed away from RTV, but perhaps here's the time to use it. Also, the PTO cover needs unavailable gaskets as well.

Would appreciate advice. Thanks.

You can buy cork and other material for gaskets online in large shhets. 12.00 to 24.00 for some in different thickness.

A thin skiff of RTV after a cleaning will be fine. use pipe joint compound on the bolt threads. Jim

I can send you a roll shouldnt be over 10 or so for a roll.
