240 utility hyd issues

Picked up a sweet 240U. :D Runs like a top, pulls like a bear, but it is having strange hyd problems. The pump seems to slowly bild pressure to about 1/2 load then it gives a sort of grunt and cycle back to low pressure. This takes about 3-5 seconds and repeats. This is while at idle or while being worked. Power steering and one valve for the fast hitch. When I cycle the fast hitch or steering it will start to push fluid out of the vent. And after I shut the tractor down quite a bit of fluid is pushed out of vent. It also likes to "chirp" every time the steering stops turning or when the fast hitch finishes it's movement. The system IS NOT overfilled, and I have cleaned and flushed the system and filter. Installed a new pump and nothing has changed. Also fast hitch will not cycle to full range. I have reset the fast hitch linkage per book several times. Lift strength seems a little weak too. Any ideas on how to fix this would be REALY appreciated. Also, how hard woud it be to add another circuit to add a remote?

I think you have a plugged orfice screen in the regulator valve assembly. Valve block with four bolts on top. Orfice screws in with screwdriver slotted head. Orfice supplies regulator piston fluid to depress ball unloading valve below piston for low pressure standby. If screen is not broken you can cut end off to clean up and just roll it up again and reuse. Note, strong spring under cover, I use a couple of longer bolts in corners to assemble. Also, 0-ring on the regulator piston will need replacing. Far as adding another valve, should be no problem to add, just finding one from salvaged tractor, one from several different model tractors should fit.

If it blows fluid out the vent and it's not overfull when cold and you check it, it must be getting air in the system from somewhere. First thought would be pump shaft seal, but with a new pump and nothing changed, that's out. Next would be sucking air from the reservoir due to the suction line not being below the oil level, or a hole in a line or loose fitting. You would think it will leak out when not running then, but not always. Something in the relief valve block like the other post is also a good possibility.
