Power Steering on my Farmall D460 has stopped working

Why.....seems it comes and goes. The loader and bucket seems to work fine and the hydraulics for the bush hog work fine - it raises and lowers fine.....but the steering seems to come and go. If I lift the front wheels off the ground with the loader they turn fine. But when back on the ground and moving, she is a bear to turn. Seems to turn to the left somewhat easier than to the right. So what do you all think and any advice is welcome and appreciated.

If you are describing a Farmall 460 Diesel or gas engine; hydraulics & power steering are all interchangable parts, sounds like you have a problem in valve stack under & ahead of dash panel, 1 of them in valve stack is a flow control & priority valve, it needs to be removed and checked out.

The 460 has a separate hydraulic pump for the steering. There is no flow divider valve like the 300/350 used. The pump is piggybacked on the main hydraulic pump and has it's own pressure relief valve mounted on the pump body. It is possible that there is debris stuck in the valve and not allowing pressure to build up for steering assist.
