Problem:
Rear pushrod has broken 3 times.
Motor runs fine for hours until it happens again.
The valves are set right (12).
With valve cover off and engine running everything looks, sounds and feels right.
Lifter appears normal by flashlight.

Recent history:
I have replaced the rocker shaft assembly due to failure of rear mounting stud.
Tractor has not been right since a guy installed my rebuilt injector pump and got the timing way off. It has been corrected since then.

Questions:
Any ideas?
Would I be able to see cam by removing the crank case cover on the side of the block below the exhaust manifold?
What is exact torque of rocker shaft studs?

Please help. I"m getting tired of chasing my tail!

I assume it's nothing as obvious as something binding in the valve train -- that would be too easy, wouldn't it?

Is there any chance something is pushing against the side of the pushrod? I had a car one time that snapped a pushrod because I replaced a chewed-up A/C mounting stud with a similar stud 1/4" longer -- just long enough to put some lateral force on the pushrod. I didn't figure it out until after I put in the new pushrod, and noticed the rocker arm seemed a little cockeyed as I was about to reinstall the valve cover.

UPDATE: I've visually inspected everything from the cam to the top of the piston. Nothing is touching and everything seems absolutely correct.
I let the engine idel and watched a push rod bend. After I broke everything down, I found another one was starting to bend also.
The only thing I found out of spec is my IP seems to be timed for 22 degrees BTDC instead of 14 and one manual says to lash the intake to 10 thousanths where I was lashing both to 12.
I have new push rods on the way but have no clue where to go to next.
I'm going to hate bringing this old tractor to a dealer.
