When I was taking my F-12 fan apart to make it easier to remove the rust and to paint, the inside of the of the pulley contained an oiley liquid.
What is this liquid? How did it get in there? I assume that I need to replace it but how? Can I put a grease zerk somewhere instead?

there is a plug on it, part #32606H special oil retaining plug.
looking for my breakdown book to put up a picture.

Shows it between the pulley and the fan. The lube chart says remove once a week and fill half full with engine oil.

My 14 had oil in it, well if you want to call it that. Mine had alot of wobble in it, so I replaced the bushing and put it back on. After a little while the bushing kept wearing out, and I was going to modify it to use bearings. Then I found an updated version at Rice Equip. and just repalced the whole thing and havent touched it since.

The pully should has oil in it. There was a roll pin driven into a hole, bored to the bushing. The roll pin should come close to the housing but make no contact. As the pully and hub spin centrifugal force throws the oil to the outide of the hub in an even layer and the end of the hollow roll pin is scooping it up nd feeding it to the bushing. I think it works ok till nobuddy puts oil in it for many years.
