I am having trouble with my valves sticking down on my 1942 H. Should I be using lead additives in my gas to prevent this from happening?

That lead stuff is just a snake oil and doesn't help a thing shoot it doesn't even have any lead in it. What your problem is, is carbon built up on things and that will make them stick. I would try this. Put about a quart of ATF into 2.5 gal of gas and run it till out then for say the next month if you run it more then 3 times a week use 1 quart to ATF to 5 gal of gas. What that will do is clean up the cylinders etc and also lube to upper part of the engine and that in turn gets to the valve stems which is where you problems are

Be careful with sticking valves on an H. The push rods are about as thick as a #2 pencil and won't take too much abuse.
