I am trying to search for Farmall B related posts. I typed Farmall + B and got like 49XXX posts, of which the first four pages have nothing to do with B's. I tried just B and got nothing.

What am I missing?

Did you type Farmall+B or did you type Farmall B if you typed Farmall B you should get info that is correct but there have been a lot of posts on the Bs. So what do you need to know??

"What am I missing?"

Basically, that while this site is a GREAT resource it's software is PATHETIC!

The software is pathetic because every time the site manager wants to upgrade you guys all scream "NO NO NO! I don't like change!"

Old,

I just bought a B from a guy and would just like to read posts on B"s to get ideas of what I can and can"t do. The guy"s dad fabricated a hitch for a blade on the back, moved the seat to the middle, and a few other things that I would like to fix and get right.

Personally I think the software here is pretty superior to a lot of others I use and free to boot. I only have trouble with the archives but I solve that by using Google to search. It will pull up results from this and other forums and should give you pretty good results...it does for me. Just add a little more detail to get certain topics....like "Farmall B (topic)" HTH

Maybe you are missing the other search engine. There are two on this site. Go over ro Modern View and try your luck there.

Ah ok I see your problem. Well over the years I have had a few of the Bs on hand and still have about 1.5 Bs here. I.E. one complete one and one that is about half parted out. So I might even have the pars you will need to make it close to correct. I'd love to see that hitch your talking about just to see how he did something like that. I hope if all works out to build a B/A. I have a B with a locked up engine and an A with a broken block where it bolts to the torque tube so I hope to take the 2 engines and a build one good engine then put the B front on the A rear end/tranny and build a trike front end A

I will try to post some pics tonight or tommorrow. The sad part is he destroyed the swinging drawbar to make clearance for the blade. He cut the tip off where the hole for hitching should be. Don"t know why he didn"t just remove it.

I tried the Modern View and got better success. Nothing great though. The funny thing is I posted the other day about the width of a B and I don't even get that in the search.

Ya seen those type of fixes to many times and I think it was because it was easier to cut something instead of getting the correct wrench just to pull out the bolts. Once I get the BA built I will have lots of parts left over. Only reason I am going to build it that way is because I have a mounted sickle bar mower for the A but it will not bolt up on the B. So to keep the mower I need most of the A so that is why I am making a BA

My idea right now is to drop the entire hitch and find another one to replace it. That way if I decide to sell the blade the buyer won"t have to fabricate the hitch and ruine another piece of history. Don"t know what a salvage yard would want for the hitch setup for a B, but I might not be able to afford to do it that way.

Use Google's advanced search option - http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en

Enter "Farmall B" in the second box that says "this exact wording or phrase:"

Enter "www.ytmag.com" in the last box that says "Search within a site or domain:"

Click on the "Advanced Search" button and start sifting through the results.

(P.S. Don't use the quotes - they were all for clarification)
