Farmall M clogged fuel line

While moving the foot plus of snow I noticed the tractor losing power and just seeming to starve for fuel. After I got done I noticed some chunks in the sediment bowl. The question is what do I have to take apart to make sure all the screens are clean. I am hoping just the sediment bowl and not the carb.

I have cleaned just enough of these to cloud my memory on just which ones have screens and where they are. If you have chunks in the bowl then any screen on the tank side is probably shot. The last one I did had a screen between the bowl and the carb and I THINK it was at the gas connection to the carb. I would take the bowl and gasline off and look, clean any screens I found and then try it again before going into the carb. Others can tell you better.

Tim - There should be 2 fuel strainers that require attention:

1 - The sediment bowl strainer. It's a round screen fitted between the glass bowl and the gasket. (Sometimes this screen goes missing...)

2 - The carburetor inlet strainer. This is small tubular screen attached to the backside of the fuel inlet nut. It can be removed by disconnecting the fuel line at the carb then unscrewing the large hex fitting (the fuel inlet nut) behind it.

After cleaning both screens and before reconnecting the fuel line, suggest draining a cup or two of fuel thru the open fuel line to flush out any rust, etc. that might be in the line. Also if you can get the drain plug out from the bottom of the carb bowl, remove it, turn the gas on and let a cup or two of fuel flush thru the bowl then replace the plug.
