iam haveing trouble getting pto in ingauged it seems like the main shaft is moveing foward. can use any help here. thanks hoopy

just did a complete o/h on my cub, is the snap ring on clutch shaft broken or missing? the fwd.bearing is what holds the shaft in position. you put the transmission in nutural and remove the shifter cover bolts and cover by lifting straight up. the clutch shaft is the upper shaft. you should be able to get a better idea of what is going on inside trans. almost any repair on trans. requires splitting the trans. and torque tube and removal both differantials. good luck, d.coleman

What yr Cub early ones had a splined shaft for the pto in the tranny and female on the pto that slid forward to enguage. Now ifn the splines on either end get worn it will be hard to enguage. Mite want to pull the rear cover off to get a better idea of your problem. The lever assy is important does the lever up and down motion with the spring work well/

we pulled covers and it seems like the main shaft is moveing foward when you go to engauge it . it is a 59 cub thanks hoopy
