e4a magneto HELP

I have a e4a mag it has the manual set impluse . I have had it apart and now can't get the impluse to snap when the pawl trips it don't even click. Ithink I have it put together like the book shows but know I have done something wrong. Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

The impluse on e4a has a coil spring I am useing the bx impluse I agree it needs to be tighter but I don't know how. Thanks for the help. Anymore ideas?
Thanks in advance

Its kind of hard to explain but when you assemble them and put the coil spring in, you have to wind it up. Like when I assempled my early F-4 mag that has the later style E-4A impulse you have to put the cover and coil on, than instead of just setting it (the cover) in the first notch, you have to wind it 1/2 way around to the second notch, this is what puts the tension on it for the impulse to work.

Again Im sorry if you dont understand what Im trying to say its hard to describe when you dont have one to look at or know the part names.

If you did this already just ignore my response.

sorry I should have said a e4a with splitdorf impluse it just has one lug in each piece.Thank you for trying. I beleive I know what you meant thanks

Either way from the way your describing it either your impulse is not set right, or the impulse is not working at all. Id say your best bet is to try and find someone near you who knows alot about those old magnetos, I say that cause thats what I ended up having to do with the one on my F12 because I couldnt figure it out by the manual alone.
