farmall a head gasket

tightened the head down to spec torque of 62.5 foot pounds and still getting a small oil leak at one place around the gasket area. What do you guys think, replace gasket or tighten more? Thanks.

One more question before I tighten to 80 foot pounds. I purchased a "serviceman's guide for Farmall A" on line. It shows the cylinder head studs tension at 62.5 foot pounds. Now I am not doubting you guys, I am just wondering if I should throw this book away? Is here a better one out there? Thanks again.

Don't throw the book away! Lots of good info in there. The original headbolt torque spec was 65 ft-lbs. So any original manual or copy that you get is going to say that. Don't know where 62.5 in your book came from?? I suppose the change to 80 ft-lbs was by a service bulletin so is not in any of the older vintage books.

i had a leak right where the oil passage goes to the head. i sprayed the gasket with copper gasket sealant, torqued to 80 in 3 steps, warmed it up, retorqued, and good to go.
