606 loader problems

606 with a 2000 loader loader was working fine around November, during a cold spell I did fire it up and the loader wouldn't raise, I thought just to cold as the case, clark and cat forklifts hyd wouldn't work ether.
when it warmed up some I put a new filter in it, and it set till I needed it a couple days ago, topped off the fluid and loader wont raise also tilt dont work.
steering works good, the loader valves are plumed with a power beyond off the remote valves, all valves are IH.
can any one give me ideas on what to look for?
I do have a IT service manual for the tractor.

With the power beyond system. There is another internal valve that supplies the remotes. It must be stuck. Not that filmilar with it,but is in an IT manual

I'd check to see if the relief valve may be stuck open with something under the ball. On the block attached to the rockshaft housing, there are one or two. The big one takes about an 1 1/8 wrench if memory serves me right or maybe it is 7/8. Follow the return lines back. IH seems to have plenty of pop off valves engineered into everything. Look for one on the valve as well. Anywhere you see a bolt head where there probably isn't a bolt is probably a relief valve than can get gunked up and open. Grab and wrench/socket and check them. Some use a check ball that could fall out so check the I & T 25 manual.

There is also a relief valve under the cover under the seat on top of the rock shaft housing. I found a piece of broken spring in mine holding the ball open. Put it in the vise to compress the ball and it fell back into the valve. Come to think of it, that may be part of my problem still. Guess I'll have to buy a pressure guage and fittings.

Post back with what you find out.

just had the same thing happen to me. it was the flow divider valve. inside the input port from the pump there is a small soft plug with about a 1/8 inch hole in it. this allows about 3 gpm to go to the power steering and diverts the rest to the aux remotes. the plug in mine was turned sideways allowing all the oil to go to the power steering and none to the remotes. i simply took it out and reinstalled it properly in its seat and all was good. sometimes the plug is missing altogether and you have to make one. this plug is NOT in the schematic and i don't think is listed with a part number. you may have to look inside another flow divider to see it. good luck!

Brad, what model do you have? I just had my 2606 flow divider apart and it just has a hole drilled into the cast. No rubber plug anywhere. Unless someone drilled yours out and then added a rubber grommet or something, the power steering won"t take the full pump amount.

i've got a 606. the hole you were lookin at is the one i'm talkin about. it's drilled thru what i called a "soft plug". like a frost plug in an engine block. it might look like it's cast but at least on mine it was a plug set in a seat. and it had turned sideways, like a frost plug would when you take it out. as soon as i reseated it properly my hydraulics were fine again.
and before that i had changed hyd filter and cleaned up relief valves. was about to pull the pump when i decided i'd better have another look at the flow divider.

Thanks. Next time I have it apart I'll take a look. John deere shop mentioned drilling them out to get more flow. I'd have to remove it again to do that. I went from very hard/hardly any steering to now it steers like a Mack truck. I can handle that but the pump isn't new either and I can stretch the life of the pump that way. The relief valve at the back was plugged open with some black sludge so I suppose it could have had a rubber plug in there once. I'm not sure how one could be in there and every stay under all the flow and pressure. This wasn't the first time it had been apart. It doesn't show up in the parts book either.

it's not a rubber plug. it's a shallow steel "cup" with a hole in it. if you drill it out it'll send more flow to your power steering. i wouldn't touch it though. all the power steering needs is 3 gpm. if your steering isn't working good enough it's probably something else.

thanks I will post back what I find.
I haven't got to do much with it, the I&T 25 doesn't have much for the auxiliary valves and there is nothing in it for the power beyond.
the fluid is clear not milky so that is good as it sets outside.
