Farmall M Has NO Spark?

My Farmall M won't start just to find out it has no spark? I put in new spark plugs and I cleaned up the points but I still have nothing.
Does any one have any idea?
Thanks,
Coyote

Does it have a Mag or a Distbutor? Check to see if the kill switch is bad. Just disconnect it if its a mag and start it if it fires switch is bad. If its a distbutor then you need a power wire to go to it and then start and see if it starts. If neither could be a bunch of stuff and would depend on which you have.

With a magneto, there are several things to check.

First, is the impulse working? You should hear it snap as you crank the engine.

Second, when you cleaned the points, did you also check the gap?

Third, make sure the kill switch is in the open (not grounded) position, or disconnect the wire from the side of the magneto. DO NOT connect the battery to the magneto.

If the impulse is working, the points are clean and gapped properly, and you've disconnected the kill switch, but still don't have spark, change the condensor.

By the way, how are you checking for spark?

I would remove the grounding wire for the time being. Rub those points with some 320 wet or dry until they're shiny. Then see if you have fire to your sparkplugs by pulling off a plug wire and hold it about 1/4" away from the sparkplug while a helper makes an attempt to start the engine. Make sure the tractor is out of gear. If you have a hot blue spark to the plug then see if the engine will start.

If you have a weak yellow spark you may have a weak coil or weak magnets that may not have strong magnetism. This is needed for your mag's coil to create a hot spark when they pass by the coil. Hal
