International 1066 Steering Problem

Bought an International 1066 tractor but it has a steering problem. When you turn to the left it steers pefectly very easy to turn, but once you get the tires straight and try to turn to right it is very hard. It feels as though the oil from the cylinder from the opposite side is not returning back. You put pressure and release the steering wheel and the steering wheels moves back in the opposite direction. This past weekend I put good pressure to turn it to the right while the tractor was idiling and once of bolts from the bottom of the steering pump broke off from the thread: I have changed the oil and new filter in the transmission, removed the two (2) valves that go on the right of the mcv pump and it still does not work. Please help need advice. Previous owner informed that was the reason he sold it.

I would venture to guess that the problem is in the hand pump and not a MCV issue , but with out being able to check it myself i am given ya the best guess i have as that is one problem that i have never run across .

sounds like the steering motor has a problem, take the lines off at the cylinder and see what kind of flow you have into a bucket, Was the steering wheel off recent? Had one once that gave me fits, owner had put a different steering wheel on, when he took the old one of he put pressure on the wheel and use a bfh and punch and hit the steering shaft very hard, well it screwed up the hand pump long story short and did the same thing your is, good luck

You could try taking the hoses off underneath front and switching them to see if i would now steer ok to the right to verify wether it is in steering cyl or steering wheel hand pump. I think they are long enough to just swap side to side.
