656 Questions

Hello,

I just bought a 1973 656 and I have a few questions as this model is new to me.

I've attached a few pictures to help me clarify my questions.

First, I checked the hydraulic fluid (which is clean and full) but the dipstick has some circular wear on it. I didn't see anything in the hydraulic tank that would rub against it and wear it like this, but I wanted to be sure. Was this done outside of the tank as an "OOPS!" or does anyone think there's a gear in the tank wearing on this dipstick? (See pics)

Second, I can't figure out the connector on the dash. It's on the far left of the dash, just left of the glow plug button. Does anyone know what the purpose of this connector is?

I appreciate the help!
Bill

the dip stick has a common wear, a gear has rubbed on it a wore the grove in it, the deal on the dash is for a cig lighter,

Mike,

Thanks for the quick response!

In your opinion then, the dipstick wear is from inside of the hydraulic tank? And this is common for the 656?

I appreciate your help!

We had a 656 for over 10-years and never saw that happen. Looks like to me someone improperly inserted it one time (or more).
