Today we finally had some decent weather . This is the first Saturday in two months with out snow or rain , or very cold .
I went and picked up a load of one point equipment that I was lucky to find for my 140. Had two guys from work go with me to help and we loaded up a disk ( looks like a king disk harrow with just the front gang ), bush hog ,Cole corn planter in great shape , Front mount blade , scoop, I have a two bottom plow for it , plus a cultivator , fertilizer distributor , all in good condition .
Came home and tore down the steering box , haha when I pulled the drain plug water came out , bearing were shot on both shafts . I hit a snag and called El Toro , Hal, he helped me out . Hal thank you for sharing your eperience with me. I got out my crow bar and torch heated it up and a little force and it popped off ( lower steering arm ).Some one had tried to pump grease in top and it never reached the gears .
Bearing were shot on both shafts . I have all parts soaking in hot water and a heavy dose of dawn dish washing detergent . I hope to get it back together tomorrow .
I used the tractor today to unload the equipment to place equipment in stroage area , I heard a sharp popping sound in the transmission , after steering gear I guess transmission will be next .
Again I want to pubilically thank Hal for his help , Hal Thank you !
