Aircleaner Top for an H

There are 2 types of round air-cleaner tops that I have found. One that goes inside the intake tube, and one that goes outside the intake tube.

so, here is my question. Are the both original IHC, AND if they both are, which one is early and which one is late.

Need to get a replacement one for my '42 H. The current one goes on the inside, but I am not sure it is correct or the original one.

Many places to order from. An example is www.external_link. Go to their site, the one you want is IHS394, fits outside, the inside ones are for the Super series, apparantly -- This is from Steiners catalog, my H has the glass precleaner.

The mushroom cap on my 55 Farmall 300 goes inside the pipe and my 52 H goes over the outside. Sounds like the inside version came later.

The one that goes on the outside is the earlier one, the one that goes on inside the pipe is the later one. The change occurred about 1948 or 1949 I believe. Our '41 H had the old style, our '50 H had the later style.

Thanks Guys. Seems like I need an "outie" for my '42. The "innie" that I have (rusted out) must be a replacement.
