Its time for a new clutch for my 856. I'm going to get it done before the upcoming season, cause you know what will happen. So I'm looking for a heavy duty clutch for my 856. I want a cheap or reasonable price, but i want a good clutch. I plan on replacing pressure plate, clutch and bearing. Any one have any recommendations?

Thanks

You will get a lot of different opinions on what clutch is best for the 856. I prefer to stay with the four pad disc and std duty pressure plate as the 856 clutch pedal can get fairly hard to push with the heavy duty ones due to the configuration of the pedal. I have caught it in the neck both ways, from you should have put in the heavy duty, or why the heck did you put in the heavy pushing son of a gun. I also feel the four pad can be tweaked for better release ,(less gear grinding) than the six pad ones. Lot of different suppliers to choose from including this site.

Well Pete is some what correct but i use a 6 pad with a standard Pressure plate unless you have hdy. assist or if has a hair dryer on it then i will go heavier . If is set stock to 15% the standard one is more then enough. As for a really good clutch and PPa i have always used Hy Capacity.

I have to agree with The Tractor Vet, HYCAP puts out a great product. I've installed probably 20 or so in the last two years. Most in Whites, but also I-H and Deere. We have had good luck with them. Whether or not to go to heavy duty depends on several things. What do you use the tractor for? Loader tractors always get HD clutches when I'm doing them. Same for any other chores that are hard on a clutch. Are you happy with how long the previous clutch lasted? Would a stiffer pedal bother you? You are the only one that has to be happy with YOUR decision. Just my $.02

Trust me unless you have a Hyd. assist clutch on a 56 series tractor YOU DO NOT WANT a Hd pressure plate and the stock plae will take everything you can put to it .

(quoted from post at 14:15:13 02/10/10) We use it for cutting and round bailing.

The standard 4 pad clutch should be just fine with that kind of use. Send me an email and I'll quote a price.
