I have heard that you can purchase a part that will render the TA useless, but will allow you to use the tractor. I was also told that this is the cheapest was to repair a bad TA. What can anybody tell me, especially the cost of such a part. I have priced rebuilt TA's and was give a price of $700.00+.

Your talking about the 'delete' kits, they are as expensive as rebuliding the TA from what i have seen. I would personally rebuild the TA they are quite handy. Also think that if you have it done it will most likly be the last time you have to ever do a TA in that again. My thoughts on it.

Andrew Z is correct (as usual) the TA repair is mostly the labor of the splits needed to do it. The kit (if found) would both be reducing the utility valus and cash value, but also the TA might not need more than a ner one way clutch and a disk to make it perfect. If kept in adjustment, and used regularly (and with rapid full travel of the control lever), they are way bullet proof.

For a couple of bucks, you can weld the planet gears to the carrier. It can be done by removing the cover on the center section. The complete job shouldn't take more than 1/2 hour.

I bought a tractor like that. One of these days I will replace the TA.

It"s called a t/a elimination. I have them on hand but you really should think about a rebuilt t/a. The tractor"s value will hold better with a good t/a. I can rebuild your"s for $550. Feel free to email me with any questions, it"s open.

It's real easy to get 1100 dollars in a T/A repair. May need top shaft, you're in there and decide to do the clutch, maybe do the flywheel.
To do it ALL, and right is expensive. REbuild of the TA is just a part of the process.
