when you get the brakes adjusted on an M,6 H, or whatever,
Is the pedal supposed to go all the way down to the stop,
or is it supposed to be halfway so you dont have to stretch your leg all out and have to lean forward?
I think my brakes are totally gone,
and the adjustment is WAYYYYYYY off,
Ive seen Ms that were alot better in ths respect but then the pedals are closer to you too,
but that souldnt make a difference?
Please help,
F,K,

They generally say that you should have 1 to 2 inches of free play in the pedals before the brakes "grab". To adjust them do this, take the rear wheels off the ground, tighten the brakes until you cannot move the wheels by hand. Then back off the tightening until the wheels turn with a VERY VERY LIGHT resistance. You can continue to do so until you have the correct amount of free play in the pedals again, 1 to 2 inches. Hope this helps

And, the adjustment of the bottom screw which holds the band centered is important. Once you get the adjustment close adjust the screw per specifications to allow the band to not rub on the top or bottom of the drum until the pedal is depressed.

If you're hitting the stop you really need to pull the cover if you haven't already to make sure the lining is not gone. It's expensive to get them relined anymore, seems like the last time I checked new bands were just as cheap as relining.

If you have adequate lining then you should be able to adjust the screw which goes into the spring to get the pdeal travel you want, unless parts have been replaced with ones which looked right but are from a different model.
