Farmall M Carburetor Adjustment

I just got my farmall M running and drove it about a 1/4 mile down a bumpy rock road then it quit. I pulled it home and tried to adjust the carburetor and had no luck. I ended up checking the fuel flow and it was coming out very slow, so I cleaned out the hoses and a hornets nest came out. I got the tank cleaned and now it won't start because I messed up the adjustment on the carburetor.
I was wondering if any one could tell me how to adjust the carb.
Thanks for the help.

Your adjustment isn't very likely to be the reason that it will not run, because while the main adjust can be closed down to save fuel under light load work, it is recommended in the manual to have it a full five turns out for heavy work........not that is a broad range over which it will run fine.

Idle mixture, you set for fastest idle. This can be so wrong that it won't idle, but will still run at speed.

The adjustment you gave is for the Super M, the main screw adjustment on the M carb is in until it runs rough, out until smooth plus maybe 1/4 turn. Before making that adjustment, the idle jet screw is supposed to be 1 turn out, main jet 3 turns out. It should start at that setting. Adjustment is made with the engine warm and throttle wide open. Idle mixture (throttle retarded) is also in until rough, out until smooth.

CNKS, one little word (Super)...guess I shoulda stayed quiet on that one. Glad you there to set me/him straight. Just pulled out both M and Super M owner's manuals and sure enough the adjustments are different just as you said.
