anything bad about an 826 german diesel?

thinking about buying an 826 with an overhauled german diesel. doesn"t look to bad, wide front, drawar, 3point, dual pto. but don"t know much about the motors. i heard theyre a pain to fix, but if just redone, is it an issue? won"t be used that often

Take a look at the repair ticket to see what parts were replaced. I would want the high comp pistons, and they are tough on cam shaft bushings also which have to be align bored so that would be noted on repair if done. Lot of difference in the way engines are "overhauled". You can't see inside of the engine but a well written repair ticket can show you a lot.

Outside of the the D/DT-407 that german may be the best most bullet proof motor IH had to that point.
