The shifter is an easy fix. Remove the shifter tower, align the shifter rail pockets with a screwdriver, reattach the shifter tower. You are now good to go until the same problem happens again.

A permanent fix requires that the end of the shifter be built up with weld and ground down to correct size.

Sounds like you can get this tractor to run without much trouble.

Remove your shift lever and line the rails and you can go.

After one row cotton pickers went out, a lot of high drum tractors were set up like yours with the bull gears and a reversable top and used primarly for spray rigs in our area. For safety sake, make sure the caster on the front wheel is to the rear before you operate the tractor on the road.

I had the same problem with my 300 that spent its life as a loader. the shifter wear would let it shift into 2 gears at the same time. welding to replace whats worn is the best fix. if not line the forks up and always shift slow and hope it doesnt happen when you really need it.
