Wierd noise in front end

I have a 560D that I have had more than 15 years and recently bought a 656G Hydro. I have noticed over the years that when I turn the steering on the 560 I would often hear a solid sounding 'thunk' as I turned the front wheels. It kind of sounded like something was binding at a certain point in the turn but I'm not sure if the sound was coming from the front end or the rear end. Since it did not seem to adversely affect anything I didn't make much of it but now that I got the 656 I have noticed that it does the same thing sometimes. It is usually most notable when I have weight on the loader. Both tractors have spent the majority of their lives as loader tractors. Does anyone have any idea what is making the 'thunking' sound and is it anything to worry about? Thanks.

Do you have a wide front. Often times the tube part of the knee moves in the center section causing the clunk you refer to. Very common and easy to spot if you look at the tube while turning and or changing directions fwd to reverse.

Any bearings in the wheels should be checked. Don't remember if there is a thrust bearing in the pedestal or not. Check rims & bolts that secure them. If narrow front, check 4 bolts that mount wheels/ axles to lower pedestal. Could be something in the hydro steering motor.
