706 3pt trouble

my 706 diesel has 3pt and i was splitting wood on a 3 pt splitter and all of a sudden the next time i went to use it the 3pt arms will go up but not down by the lever. They will settle down when tractor sits after a while. Goes up fine. What is the problem and how can i fix it?

Pull the top link cover off and look in side and on the right side there is and arm coming up from the bottom and a little spring loaded arm coming down from the top . Put the arm from the top on the back side of the one from the bottom and all will be well. NOW a word of caution wear Gloves as the top arm is spring loaded and the spring is heavy and you can reall slice your fingers . . Myself i have a hook to do that job . I like my fingers .
