I was plowing the other night and noticed when I shift the TA into direct drive I get some slippage of the clutch or TA. If I slowed the engine a little and then returned it back to full throttle it seemed to engage fully and hold well. My question is if the problem is most likely in the engine clutch or something in the TA? I did not smell the aroma of a hot clutch even after about 4 hours. It only seems to do this when I switch form TA to DD. I do not notice any issues when the TA is pulled back.
Thanks in advance.

The TA clutch is similar to a regular (main) clutch. It is located in front of the TA and behind the main clutch. If it slips in direct, it is that clutch slipping. It is slipping for one of two reasons.
It is worn out and cannot be made new by anything but replacment.
It is not in adjustment, and is partially released in operation. Go through the Manual procedure for adjusting the TA and main clutch. Do it step by step and repair all worn pins and clevices if found in the linkages. If it still slips, it needs a new TA clutch, (change the ramp/rollers/sprague clutch at the same time. JimN

the way your wording is it sounds like your plowing in T.A.that is not what it was desighned for. the TORQUE AMPLIFIER is only to get you through a tough spot for a short period so you dont have to stop and shift gears.just as its name says amplifies the torque.if the ground is to hard or your powering out then use a lower gear.this procedure followed and the ta will last otherwise no .the guys that say ya, you can use them steady have no mechanical conception whats taking place inside their tractor. but just from the sound of it it appears like the clutch is slipping and is due for replacement.
