450 gas valve adjustment

.017 hot, firing order is 1342. so you would start with #1 cyl. and adjust each cyl. in that order on top dead centre on the comp. stroke.you can remove the plugs and check for the comp. to blow out with your thumb or finger. or do it by watching the running mate cyl.running mate to #1 is #4cyl.you watch as your turning it over with the crank... the easiest, watch #4cyl. rockers . when you see one valve come up and the other go down, that means #1 is on comp. thats called getting them on the rock. you dont need to stick anything into the plug holes to feel the piston because when you have that cyl. on the rock its running mate is on comp.adjust #1 cyl. valves. next adjust #3 cyl. you watch #2cyl. and get it on the rock. next adjust #4cyl. watch#1. next adjust #2 watch #3 on the rock.

OR, just get an owners manual. The entire procedure, along with the specs AND pictures, is right there in the manual.

Can't get the link to work on this but with #1 at TDC you can adjust valves 1,2,3,5. With #4 at TDC you can adjust 4,6,7,8. For those with 6 cyl engines, with #1 on TDC, valves 1,2,3,5,7,9; #6 TDC, valves 4,6,8,10,11,12.
