The original subject was "Re: electric start farmall F20".

We have a 1939 F-20 grandpa bought it brand new. It was one of the last ones made. It had FACTORY electric start and Factory lights. We had it at a show and someone swiped the light switch. We can't even find a picture of the switch that was on it. Dad says it looked similar to a switch for an H but had a small light bulb in the middle of it.

I'm sure this has been discussed many times and although this F-20 was bought new with electric starter and lights it was not "factory". There are many many many documents that prove otherwise. Although there were many available setups that dealers could install.

The only F series tractor that ever came with factory start was the F-14.

I'm not at all trying to sound rude but am more or less just wanting you to be educated in what you own. If you believe otherwise just do a little research online or search through some books on the F-series tractors and you'll find the truth.

NO F-20 EVER LEFT THE FACTORY WITH A STARTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IH authorized its dealers to install the Heisler starte setup on F-20 BEFORE THEY WERE DELIVERED TO THE CUSTOMER FROM THE DEALER!!!!!

get a parts book and READ IT!!! lights were the only facotry available elctric option for the 20's.

its getting kind of old tryin to get information out to people when they want to believe nonsense!

So what kits changed the bellhousing to accept the starter from the rear just like a H or M?

Hey, guys. Go easy on the newcomers. I'm an oldie now and know quite a bit about Farmalls from the 30s and 40s, but if I were going to an Oliver or JD, I'd be asking questions, too. This is a great place to help people.

doesnt really matter whether your new or not. when you make a comment like his where he said it had 'FACTORY start' it makes it seem like you know what your talking about and really want to get your ponit out there that you know this. the capitaliztion of the word factory kind of denotes this.

im a firm believer in the saying of 'if you dont know what your talking about, you shouldnt be talking'

i can read the parts book plain as day, and theres no such critter

It sounds like runnwo is looking for a source for a switch at best to replace the stolen one, or a description or photo of one at the least.

Can anybody help him with that?

that was my intent. the switch box looks just like one from an H or M, the switch handle is no longer
